Shakespeare Project: A midsummer night's dream
Reflection:
The play Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play produced by William Shakespeare that was initially made to be a comedy. It was written around the time of 1590-1596. In the play, there are lovers, fairies and mechanicals. For this project, my role was to be one of the dramaturgs which created the playbill for the play. In the play, I was Flute as well as Thisbe from one of Shakespeare's many famous plays, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
During the Shakespeare Project, I connected most with the play once I started to memorize my lines. At first, I didn’t quite understand the plot line. Once I memorized my lines, I was able to key into other peoples parts and truly understand the entire story line. What I liked most, was the final presentation because we were able to show off all of our hard work in just one short hour and be over with it afterwards. My best moment during the course of this project was in the middle of project work time. In my opinion, project work time is the best time because everyone is so involved in the project and you’re always busy. Best of all, you’re never bored!
This project had lot’s of success, but at the same time had many challenges. One challenge that really got to me was reading and analyzing Shakespeare's work. Many of his word choice is new to me which makes it complicated to know what means what. During the poetry conversion, I struggled to make sense of the bizarre language he used. I didn’t get a very great grade, but I still challenged myself.
