Encyclopedia Project:
During this project, I've learned a lot about the history of conics and how they came about. Because of this project, I've learned that I have trouble with sourcing websites but I'm very good at reading about the topics without getting off task. For my exhibition, I need to prepare my board because I will be displaying my polynomial project. I'll need to type a paper and find a way to organize my work and make it into a beautiful presentation.
Reflection:
During this project, I learned a lot about the history of mathematics. More specifically, I learned about how far back mathematics had been used and were being created. For example, Conics came about in between 262-200 B.C. That’s a long time back! Math has been around for massive amounts of time. Something I would do differently next time in this project is to spend more time looking at references outside of the web. I would’ve loved to find information in a book or some other kind of resource because it’d give me more insight and knowledge. Something I would change for this project is make it in a partnership. I think the project would be a lot better of quality if there was collaboration put into it. Overall, I learned a lot about the history of the Conic section during this project.
- What’s something you would change about your final product? The length of my writing is short and I would’ve liked to write more.
- In my opinion, my biggest strength in math is my ability to advocate for help. Whenever I am having problems, I can always rely on my teacher/tutor for help.
- My biggest weakness in math is my perserverance. Math has never interested me and so I have a hard time caring about the work I do in this class.
